Bianca Belair gets past Asuka on 'The Grandest Stage'

Bianca Belair
WWE

Bianca Belair is still the WWE Raw Women’s Champion after defeating Asuka at WrestleMania 39.

‘The EST’ retained her gold after felling the former Champion with The K.O.D in one of WrestleMania Night Two’s most intriguing offerings. After an intense back-and-forth affair, the Challenger loaded up her devastating blue mist. Belair was wise to it though, moving out of the way before countering an Asuka Lock into a deadlift version of her killshot.

With the victory, Belair continues her longstanding run with the red brand’s strap having defeated Becky Lynch for the prize at WrestleMania 38. She’s now held the prize for 365 days, and could soon break Lynch’s 2019-2020 398-day run to become the longest-reigning holder of the gold in its seven-year history.

Asuka won her title opportunity with a victory at February’s Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in a titular Number One Contender’s match. ‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ and Belair had only interacted in fleeting moments since, with Asuka dribbling the blue goo as a way to play mind games with the Champion that evidently failed to achieve their stated aim.
