While Vince McMahon was backstage for Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown, the Chairman of the Board was also in attendance for Night 1 of WrestleMania 39... and it sounds as if Vinny Mac was a lot more involved this time out.
As per PWInsider.com , McMahon is said to have been "much more involved" last night than he was when he attended a Raw taping from Boston back in March. Several sources told the outlet that Vince had his own office backstage at 'Mania, and that the office itself was very close to the Gorilla position.
On top of that, McMahon could be heard "on the headsets early" in the night and was giving feedback and asking questions. One source also noted how the disgraced Chairman was "supervising" the show rather than just "hanging out".
Where WWE is concerned, the official company line continues to be that Vince McMahon is not involved with the creative side of the promotion or its talent. Instead, McMahon's return to WWE at the turn of the year was merely to head-up negotiations for a new TV deal and to oversee the potential sale of the organisation.
